ABOUT

Personal project for a digital painting to explore a technique by mimicking traditional art. The concept is purely Philippine culture,  subjects are Filipina dressed with their saya, and movements that are inspired by Philippine folk dance. The art style was inspired by Benedicto Cabrera, better known as BenCab a philippine national artist that has a unique style of painting, Bencab work often depicts a woman and occasionally men wrapped in swirling, bundled fabrics, and capes.

Sayaw Saya

DIGITAL PAINTING

Series of digital paint portraying movements from Philippine folk dance. Sayaw means  ' to dance'  and  Saya a traditional dress for Filipina women.

Itik-itik one of the Traditional dance is being used for this digital painting, The best description of the Itik-Itik is that the steps mimic the way a duck walks, as well as the way it splashes water on its back to attract a mate.

The La Jota Moncadeña is adapted by the Filipinos from an old Spanish dance. It's a combination of Spanish and Ilocano dance steps set to Spanish music and castanets.
